The Consumer Price Index for hospital spending grew in the previous two months as well, going up by 0.7 percent in June and 0.1 percent in May. Prices for hospital services also experienced an unadjusted percent change of 3.4 percent in July 2013 compared with July 2012.
The CPI for hospital spending accounts for payments from private payers and the uninsured, not including Medicare and Medicaid.
