The insurer has announced statewide averages for 25-, 40- and 60-year-olds covered by bronze, silver, gold and platinum plans, as well as catastrophic coverage. For a 25-year-old with catastrophic coverage, monthly premiums will range from $145.18 to $159.54 on average. A 60-year-old covered by a platinum plan can expect to pay $861.94 to $947.19 per month on average. In 2010, the average monthly premium for individual coverage in North Carolina was $207, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.

The premium rates don’t take into account federal subsidies consumers may qualify for to help with the cost of their coverage. Other insurers offering coverage through the North Carolina individual exchange have yet to release their premium rates.
