Aetna Drops Out of Ohio Health Insurance Exchange

Health insurer Aetna has decided not to sell coverage through Ohio’s federally facilitated health insurance exchange, according to a Dayton Business Journal report.

Aetna has recently withdrawn from various marketplaces including exchanges in Maryland, Connecticut and Georgia. The insurer has also opted out of exchanges in Tennessee and Texas, according to the report. Additionally, Aetna has announced it will drop out of California’s individual insurance market entirely later this year for unspecified reasons.

Aetna subsidiary Coventry Health Care in Bethesda, Md., will still participate in the Ohio individual exchange, according to the report.
