UO and Lane County Public Health have contacted roughly 800 people believed to have potentially had contact with the woman, who does not live on campus. Thus far, there have been no reports of other students contracting the infection.
The UO campus health center and the public health department have prepared to see any sick students who may need to be tested for the infection — called meningococcemia — since it is often confused for the flu.
The infected student who was admitted to the hospital is in stable condition but continues to battle the potentially life-threatening bacterial blood infection, according to the report.
