Student at Boston-area University dies of bacterial meningitis

An 18-year-old student from Northeastern University in Boston died from bacterial meningitis on Sunday, according to the Boston Globe.

In a statement relayed by the Globe, university officials said, "Although the student had already left campus at the conclusion of the spring semester before developing symptoms, we have reached out to his known close contacts and offered medication and immunization... Northeastern is working in close coordination with the Boston Public Health Commission on this important matter."
