During an investigation in November, state officials discovered hospital staff members failed to properly sterilize reusable laryngeal mask airways from June 1, 2011, through Nov. 8, 2011. Sheridan County Memorial officials had since implemented an action plan, but state health officials recommended the hospital test patients for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV.
Hospital officials confirmed they would offer free testing to 307 patients who underwent procedures that required a reusable laryngeal mask airway.
