The department issued a letter highlighting the need for single-use disposable supplies. The letter also urges healthcare facilities to review infection control best practices comprehensively.

According to the letter, the recent infection control violations underscore “the importance of going beyond staff re-training to comprehensively review your infection control plans and implement systems changes to safeguard against individual error.”

The letter also includes some references to help providers make their blood glucose testing and insulin administration programs safer.
