Rates of flu drop to national baseline for the first time in 13 weeks

During the week of April 10 through April 16, influenza-like illness was reported in 2.1 percent of all outpatient visits, according to CDC data. This is the first time flu activity has decreased back to the national baseline in 13 weeks.

Although overall activity continued to decrease, laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza B strain have remained on an upswing for a few weeks.

The number of pediatric deaths associated with flu also continued to fall during week 15, down to six from 10 during week 14.
