Quality Data Added to Physician Compare for First Time

Physician Compare, the CMS-run website, has included group-level quality data for physician group practices and accountable care organizations in its database for the first time.

Currently, 66 group practices and 141 ACOs have publicly reported quality data in the database, which was updated today to reflect the additions.

The quality data being offered as of today are as follows:
•    Controlling blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes.
•    Controlling blood pressure in patients with diabetes.
•    Prescribing aspirin to patients with diabetes and heart disease.
•    Patients with diabetes who do not use tobacco.
•    Prescribing medicine to improve the pumping action of the heart in patients who have both heart disease and certain other conditions.
