Health officials in Montgomery County, Pa., also issued a warning Jan. 11 to the public about possible measles exposure that may have taken place Jan. 3 at two separate health facilities — an urgent care center and an emergency department.
The outbreak began after other exposed and infected individuals at the hospital did not adhere to quarantine protocols, extending the spread.
As of Jan. 10, Philadelphia health department officials noted there have not been any additional cases outside of the confirmed eight.
Officials in neighboring Montgomery County and in Delaware have not confirmed any measles cases as of Jan. 12, but noted the exposure warning is directly connected to the outbreak in Philadelphia.
