The world could see a "second peak" of COVID-19 cases before a presumed second wave comes this fall, Dr. Mike Ryan, executive director of the World Health Organization's emergencies program, said during a May 25 media briefing.

Deaths attributed to pneumonia, influenza or COVID-19 dropped by about 6 percentage points for the week ending May 16 compared to the week prior, but were still high compared to previous flu seasons, according to the CDC's weekly COVIDView report.

As of May 29, Tennessee had the highest COVID-19 reproduction rate and Hawaii had the lowest, according to rt.live, a website that calculates the rate at which the virus is spreading in all 50 states.
