Among its many green initiatives, the cancer center employs 100 percent reformulated surgical kits and began using HVAC setbacks to reduce energy use when operating rooms aren’t in use. The center stores 77 percent of its equipment in reusable containers. Memorial Sloan Kettering’s green initiatives extend to its food program; the hospital stocks healthy beverages and sustainable, locally sourced food with non-therapeutic, antibiotics-free meat. Practice Greenhealth honored the hospital with the Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award from 2015 to 2017.
