Pennsylvania Hospitals Decrease CLABSIs by 44% From 2008-2010

The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania announced that Pennsylvania hospitals decreased central line-associated bloodstream infections by 44 percent from 2008 to 2010.

The data is detailed in a new report, "Pennsylvania Hospital Quality: Achieving More Together," which describes the quality and patient safety initiatives in Pennsylvania hospitals.


Key findings include the following:
•    The number of catheter-associated urinary tract infections decreased 36 percent between 2008 and 2011.
•    The number of wrong-site surgeries decreased 40 percent from 2007 to 2012.
•    Hospital employee influenza vaccination rates reached a rate of 72 percent during the 2011 to 2012 influenza season.
