Last week, the Texas Department of State Health Services sent a violation notice to Parkland Memorial Hospital, citing failure to investigate two unexpected deaths and a blood transfusion case with suspected complications, according to the report. DSHS fined the hospital $1,950.
April Foran, a Parkland spokeswoman, said the hospital had reported all the problems to the state, and that the lack of internal investigation did not “put any patient at clinical risk,” according to the report.
Parkland’s fine follows a fine of $1 million for patient safety deficiencies in August.
