Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare is partnering with Quinnipiac University to launch a two-year, part-time educational program aimed at helping mid-career professionals transition into nursing.
Set to begin in April, the program is designed for current employees and prospective candidates with a non-nursing bachelor’s degree or at least 60 transferable college credits. Participants will continue working part-time at Hartford HealthCare while attending weekly in-person classes and clinicals, primarily at Hartford Hospital’s Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation and other system facilities.
Hartford HealthCare will cover most program costs, including stipends for supplies, and Hamden, Conn.-based Quinnipiac will significantly discount tuition, bringing students’ out-of-pocket cost to about $15,000.
Graduates who pass the NCLEX will be offered full-time registered nurse positions at Hartford HealthCare, according to an April 1 news release. The first cohort is expected to graduate in May 2027.
