The Connecticut Health Investigative Team is a nonprofit that produces journalism on health and safety issues. The reports, found in the organization’s data mine section, cover inspections that happened at hospitals between 2016 and 2018.
The database also includes the corrective action plans hospitals submit after inspections.
Violations include injuries to patients, improper use of patient restraints, delays in testing results and other protocol lapses.
Hartford (Conn.) Hospital was cited for 60 violations, including two violations that preceded patient deaths. Bridgeport (Conn.) Hospital was cited for 26 violations, including one instance when a patient with an ovarian mass was burned during surgery.
