For the study, researchers used data from the 2010 Commonwealth Fund International Health Policy Survey. This survey was administered by telephone to a random sample of people, over the age of eighteen in 11 high-income countries — Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
When asked if they think their healthcare system needs to be rebuilt completely, responses from six of the 11 countries were as follows, according to the study:
• United States — 25.4 percent of respondents wanted this
• Australia — 21.4 percent of respondents wanted this
• Germany — 11.4 percent of respondents wanted this
• Canada — 10.3 percent of respondents wanted this
• France — 8.1 percent of respondents wanted this
• United Kingdom — 3 percent of respondents wanted this
