Medtronic awards NPSF’s Lucian Leape Institute $1M grant

Medical device giant Medtronic gave the National Patient Safety Foundation’s think tank, the NPSF Lucian Leape Institute, a $1 million grant. The grant will be distributed over three years, and it aims to help the institute further its patient safety strategy goals.

The NPSF Lucian Leape Institute was established in 2007 and has been collecting research and convening roundtables to investigate and enhance patient safety in the healthcare industry since 2010. It has released reports on a number of areas, including healthcare transparency and medical education reform.

In the future, the institute will focus on issues, such as the need for improved patient safety metric measures and greater awareness of patient safety issues among the general public.

Dublin, Ireland-based Medtronic is one of the world’s largest medical technology, services and solutions companies serving healthcare stakeholders in approximately 160 countries.
