Gage Mueller reportedly loves Halloween and reached out to MD Anderson to see if patients could go trick-or-treating next week. Due to infection prevention precautions, that request was denied, but Mr. Mueller had a back-up plan.
He partnered with Halloween Express to bring in costumes to the hospital for pediatric patients and their staff. He started a page on GoFundMe to raise the funds, and has already exceeded his goal of $5,000.
“He is giving them the childhood experience that a lot of times is taken away from them,” Lauren Shinn, MD Anderson’s program manager, told ABC News. “It means so much to patients and families because it’s one less thing to worry about.”
Patients can pick out their costumes at “the costume shop” and will parade through the hospital’s hallways, according to the report.
