Security guard stabbed at SC medical center

Police are investigating a Jan. 11 stabbing of a security guard at Hartsville, S.C.-based Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, according to WBTW.com.

On Monday, Darlington County deputies brought a man to the hospital for a psychological evaluation, according to The Hartsville Messenger.

After the man was admitted to the hospital, the deputies left. Shortly before 7:00 p.m., the man had a disagreement with a hospital security guard and stabbed him with a pocket knife multiple times, according to Sheriff Wayne Byrd. Police were immediately called to the hospital.

The security guard was sent to the ICU and is in stable condition. The man hasn’t been arrested, but charges for attempted murder and possession of a knife during the commission of a violent crime are pending.
