Cincinnati-based Christ Hospital has detected Legionnaires’ disease in two patients in the past six weeks, NBC affiliate WLWT5 reported Nov. 3.

The source of exposure is unknown, but hospital officials said they were working with local and state health departments to determine if patients contracted the disease on the main campus. The hospital has initiated additional environmental testing across the main campus and installed filters on all faucets and showers while testing is ongoing.

The risk to patients, visitors and staff “remains very low,” hospital officials said, and there is no indication that the hospital’s water supply is unsafe, according to the report.
