The healthcare branch aims to increase safety and equity in medicine. Time’s Up Healthcare was initially founded by a group of women roughly six months ago, but has grown to include 50 founding members and 13 senior advisers.
“The outpouring of support we have received is indicative of the real thirst for change in our industry. Women make up 80 percent of healthcare workers, but only 11 percent of healthcare CEOs. We are well represented in this workforce, but not in positions of power,” said Esther Choo, MD, an emergency physician at Portland, Ore.-based OHSU, and founding member of Time’s Up Healthcare, said in a news release.
The healthcare organization has received support from several medical societies, including the American Medical Women’s Association, the American College of Physicians and the National Medical Association, among others.
