Harrogate, Tenn.-based Lincoln Memorial University is opening a medical school campus in Orange Park, Fla., on March 23.
The new LMU-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine campus will be the first four-year medical school in the greater Jacksonville area, according to a March 4 system news release. The program will provide the same comprehensive academic and clinical curriculum as the university’s other campuses, and maintain a strong emphasis on primary care. This is the university’s first campus outside of Tennessee.
The inaugural cohort will start later this year.
The medical school will live in one of two new buildings, which cost around $36 million. The other adjacent building will be used for the university’s expanded veterinary program. Together, both buildings span 130,000 total square feet.
The medical school was first founded in 2007 and has awarded nearly 3,000 doctor of osteopathic medicine degrees, the release said.
