Integration & Physician Issues

Akron (Ohio) General Health System has entered an agreement with Sound Physicians, a hospitalist organization, to have Sound Physicians staff hospitalists at Akron General Medical Center.

Nationally in 2012, there were 260.5 active physicians per 100,000 people, according to new data released by the Association of American Medical Colleges in its 2013 State Physician Workforce Data Book.

The following deals between hospitals and physicians — including acquisitions, affiliations, leasing arrangements and joint ventures — occurred or were announced since the end of September, starting with the most recent.

Hospitalists play an important role in patient care, treating acutely ill patients throughout their hospital stay. Demand for hospitalists is also in high demand: In 2012, hospitalists were the second-most placed specialty by The Medicus Firm.
