The Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine in Pasadena, Calif., is partnering with the Pepperdine Graziadio Business School in Los Angeles to launch an integrated MD/MBA program.
The dual-degree program is designed to equip medical students with essential business, leadership and financial skills alongside their clinical education. The program allows students to earn both degrees concurrently, rather than pursuing an MBA later in their careers.
“Over the years, many physicians in our Executive MBA programs have shared their desire to better understand business and organizational management. A common reflection we hear is, ‘I wish I had done my MBA much earlier in my career,'” Clemens Kownatzki, PhD, associate dean of academic programs and associate professor of finance at Pepperdine Graziadio, said in a June 18 news release. “This dual-degree program allows medical students to gain that critical business knowledge at the outset of their careers.”
