Officials opened the greenhouse April 30. It was named in honor of an employee who worked at the medical center for more than 50 years, according to the report.
Fifteen long-term care patients are involved in the care and upkeep of the greenhouse, planting flowers and vegetables that will be used to make their meals at the medical center.
Donations from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services and local community members were used to fund the greenhouse.
Officials said the area has proved to be highly therapeutic for patients and has allowed them to engage in outdoor activities they enjoy, according to the report.
