FTC, Nevada AG Launch Inquiry Into Renown Health’s Partnerships With Physicians

The Federal Trade Commission and the Nevada Attorney General’s office have launched an inquiry into partnerships between Reno, Nev.-based Renown Health and local cardiology groups formed as part of Renown’s Institute of Heart and Vascular Health, according to a Reno Gazette-Journal report.

Last Year, Renown formed an alliance with 15-physician Sierra Nevada Cardiology Associates in Reno and is currently exploring a similar partnership with 17-physician Reno Heart Physicians.

Renown confirmed they received an informal inquiry last week and said they are cooperating. A spokesperson for the hospital added that the interest from the FTC and Attorney General is not a surprise given “the size of the transaction,” according to the report.
