It’s unclear why all four trauma surgeons are leaving; a spokesman for CMMC’s parent organization says the hospitals and surgeons had “a professional disagreement.” The surgeons have declined to comment on their move to MaineCenter.
Three of the four surgeons have already left, and the fourth is scheduled to leave CMMC this month.
The switch doubles MaineGeneral’s surgeon staff and forces CMMC to staff its hospital with visiting surgeons for the time being.
