Dr. Uretsky filed a lawsuit against the health system, accusing the organization of improperly terminating him as head of the cardiology department in 2008. In his complaint, Dr. Uretsky alleges the hospital fired him for refusing to supervise another cardiologist without legal protection. The then newly hired cardiologist had not practiced medicine in five years.
The defendants — former Sparks CEO Ted Woodrell, Sparks Medical Foundation and Sparks Health System — can appeal the decision.
