Anthem launched the program, which is designed to give primary care practices financial incentives and the resources needed to provide coordinated, high-quality care, in May.
“Our initiative aims to strengthen the relationship between doctors and their patients, while compensating primary care physicians more for making quality and cost effectiveness an everyday practice,” said C. Burke King, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. “We believe this will greatly benefit our members and the dedicated physicians with whom we work.”
The six physician groups are Bayview Physicians Group in Norfolk, Va.; Bon Secours Medical Group in Richmond, Va.; Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Va.; Fairfax (Va.) Family Practice Centers; Patient First in Glen Allen, Va., and Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group in Newport News, Va.
