Through the program, a trained paramedic, who is assigned as non-emergency during that shift, is sent to patients’ homes to ensure that they have received their medications and know how to take them. The patients who benefit from the program are typically those who may need some help managing their care but are not eligible for home healthcare options.

Harrisburg, Pa.-based PinnacleHealth also has the same program in place, according to the report.
