Hershey Medical Center warns patients, visitors of potential measles exposure

Staff at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center are notifying patients and visitors in or around the emergency department Aug. 18 of a possible measles exposure, the Lebanon Daily News reports.

Potential exposure includes patients and visitors who arrived or left through the ED check-in area between 8:30 and 11 p.m. Aug. 18.

A patient showing symptoms consistent with measles arrived in the ED Aug. 18 and was promptly placed in a negative pressure room. Staff took precautions to avoid contact with other individuals.

The hospital is working with the Health Department on additional notification of the public as needed.
