Along with AHQA, the American Health Care Association, American Medical Association, National Rural Health Association and 47 state medical societies are advocating for CMS to continue funding the program as is, citing the improvements made by QIOs in the more than three decades since their founding. QIOs collaborate with healthcare providers on quality improvement projects for Medicare patients.
Earlier this year, CMS proposed approaches to potentially cut funding for many state-based QIOs, shifting funds to a few regional QIOs, according to the news release.
