Florida theme parks offer mosquito repellent to quell visitors' Zika fears

As local Zika transmission continues in the state of Florida, Orlando theme parks are now offering complimentary mosquito repellent in hopes of assuaging costumer fears, according to CNN.

The move comes as local transmission has been reported in the Miami neighborhood of Wynwood, Miami Beach, Palm Beach and Pinellas County. As of Aug. 26, there have been 42 cases of non-travel related Zika reported in Florida. Additionally, 545 travel-associated cases have been reported in the state. In total, 75 infections have occurred in pregnant residents. According to a recent projection by biostatisticians from the University of Florida in Gainesville, the total number of non-travel associated Zika cases in the state could hit 400 by summer's end.

Walt Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios are all now offering their visitors free access to insect repellant.

"In an abundance of caution, we are accelerating preventative efforts throughout our property, including providing complimentary insect repellent to our guests along with helpful guidelines from the CDC," Disney said in a statement, according to CNN. "We have an extensive mosquito-prevention and monitoring program in place, and we continue to work closely with local, state and federal experts on this topic."
