Florida hospital increases safety measures in the wake of mass shootings

St. Johns County, Fla.-based Flagler Hospital has implemented additional security measures in the wake of national hospital shootings, according to staugustine.com.

Flagler Hospital reduced the number of entry points to its facility and requires visitors to provide identification. The hospital also increased the number of security guards.

"Flagler Hospital leaders have spent the past nine months working to enhance the overall security of our campus, while continuing to provide a welcoming environment for patients and their loved ones," Jason Barrett, Flagler Hospital CEO and president, emailed a statement. "We are working diligently to achieve balance between convenience and safety. We are committed to creating the safest, most prepared and responsive environment we can, with the hope that the need for it will never arise."
