The song lyrics highlight the World Health Organization’s Five Moments for Hand Hygiene and how these critical hand-washing practices help prevention the transfer of infections like methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Clostridium difficile.

The song was written by Vicky Cartwright, a head nurse for surgical services at Leicester’s hospitals.
