Detroit Issues Alert After Healthcare Worker Diagnosed With TB

Up to 560 patients and staff members at four medical centers in the Detroit metro area have been exposed to a healthcare worker who has been diagnosed with active tuberculosis, prompting the city and the Michigan Department of Community Health to release an alert, according to a report from The Detroit News.

According to the Michigan Department of Community Health, the worker exposed patients and staff to tuberculosis between Aug. 1, 2013 and Dec. 17, 2013 at Detroit Medical Center, Henry Ford Hospital (Detroit), St. John Hospital and Medical Center (Detroit) and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry.

Those who were exposed to the worker have been notified and encouraged to seek TB testing, according to the report.
