Here are three things to know:
1. UCLA reported 262 kidney transplants in 2017, fully solidifying its spot as the nation’s top kidney transplant center.
2. The medical center remained in the lead for transplants for the first half of 2018, executing 360 organ transplants through June 30.
3. UCLA performed a record number of kidney and liver transplants — 199 and 92 transplants, respectively — in the same six-month period.
“None of this could have happened without the unwavering support and commitment of our multidisciplinary transplant teams and leadership from our medical school and hospital,” said Ronald Busuttil, MD, professor of surgery and chief of liver transplantation at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Los Angeles.
