The nursing board investigated complaints against nurses and processed applications for new nurses, among other duties. Last October, Gov. Brown vetoed a bill that would have extended the nursing board’s existence until 2016, citing his concerns over expanded pension benefits for board investigators. The nursing board was formally dissolved at the beginning of this year, sparking outcry from nurses and patient safety advocates.
Now, Gov. Brown has signed legislation that reinstates the nursing board through 2015, though the bill does not include language about expanded pension benefits.
