In a news release, leadership cited efforts to “address allegations being made against it by plaintiffs’ attorneys in lawsuits and in the media,” the desire to respect the award and the desire to avoid giving “misleading allegations an elevated public platform” as primary reasons for rejecting the award.
The hospital is currently facing a lawsuit filed by patients who claim the hospital let a neurosurgeon continue to perform surgeries despite its alleged awareness of his botched procedures and alleged substance abuse problems.
