APIC is aiming to help healthcare providers learn proper personal protective equipment practices. On the flier, APIC lists the types of gloves used in the healthcare setting, including sterile, non-sterile and utility gloves.
Here are three do’s:
• Do clean hands and change gloves between each task.
• Do ensure correct type of glove is available if you have skin sensitivity or allergy issues.
• Do make sure that gloves fit properly before performing any tasks.
Here are three don’ts:
• Don’t substitute glove use for hand hygiene.
• Don’t use non-approved hand lotions.
• Don’t touch your face when wear gloves.
