All US regions reporting lab-confirmed flu cases above baseline levels

During the ninth week of the 2015-2016 flu season, Feb. 28-March 5, flu activity remained elevated throughout the country, according to the CDC. Infant mortality linked to flu dropped, however, with just two deaths reported during the week.

The proportion of outpatient visits for flu-like illness grew past the national baseline of 2.2 percent to 3.5 percent. Per 100,000 hospitalizations, 10.4 were linked to lab-confirmed cases of influenza for the week. Based on the NationalCenter for Health Statistics’ Mortality Surveillance System and the 122 Cities Mortality Reporting System, 6.9 percent of deaths for the same week were related to influenza or pneumonia.
