One such guidance, “Accurate Dysrhythmia Monitoring in Adults,” includes step-by-step instructions on identifying dysrhythmia and interpreting results. Examples of such instructions include:
- Place two leads whenever available to help with accurate rhythm interpretation
- Change electrodes daily
- Document onset and termination of the dysrhythmia
The Practice Alert also includes dysrhythmia monitoring-related recommendations for hospital administrators.
Additionally, AACN released a separate Practice Alert titled “Ensuring Accurate ST-Segment Monitoring” specifically for nurses caring for hospitalized patients with acute coronary syndrome, coronary disease or cardiac risk factors.
