Stericycle surveyed 1,200 U.S. adults on their attitudes toward patient safety via a 14-question mobile poll in February.

Three survey findings:

1. Ninety-four percent of respondents said providers were genuinely concerned about their health.

2. Ninety-three percent of respondents said providers took the time to explain care follow-up instructions, and 91 percent said providers made sure they understood what medications they were taking.

3. A majority (94 percent) of respondents said providers routinely washed their hands, wore gloves and took other precautionary infection control measures during medical visits.
