4 DC hospitals with top nurse-patient communication scores

The following hospitals in Washington, D.C., received top marks on patients’ HCAHPS surveys for nurse communication.

At least 73 percent of patients surveyed at these four hospitals responded that nurses always communicated well. In the District of Columbia, the average is 71 percent, which sits below the national average of 80 percent.

The figures are from CMS’ Hospital Compare website and represent HCAHPS scores collected from October 2015 through September 2016, the most recent data available.

Note: Hospitals with fewer than 100 completed surveys were excluded from this list.

1. Medstar Georgetown University Hospital — 77 percent

2. Sibley Memorial Hospital — 75 percent

3. Medstar Washington Hospital Center— 73 percent

4. George Washington University Hospital — 73 percent
