31 companies to share $1.6B CMS contract to develop clinical quality measures

As part of a potential $1.6B, 10-year contract, CMS awarded 31 companies and organizations, including Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health, grants to implement clinical quality measures for assessing healthcare services, GovConWire reports.

The Measure and Instrument Development and Support contract has a five-year base term and five option years. It covers measures program support, maintenance of evaluation instrument data systems, implementation of quality measures and data collection means.

Under the contract, measure development and maintenance work focuses on six quality priorities, according to the statement of work

1. Safety
2. Community health
3. Caregiver- and individual-focused experience and outcomes
4. Cost reduction and efficiency
5. Care coordination
6. Clinical care quality
