18 confirmed measles cases in Arizona

Thursday, the Arizona Department of Health Services confirmed another case of the measles in a state resident, bringing the total number of cases associated with the ongoing outbreak that began in May to 18.

The department stated the most recent case does not pose a health risk to the public. The newest case and 16 others have occurred in Pinal County and are linked to a private detention facility in Eloy. One case occurred in Maricopa County. According to the CDC, just one dose of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine is 93 percent effective at preventing the measles.
