Approximately 100 children are at risk of infection after receiving colonoscopies with improperly cleaned equipment at Seattle Children's Hospital, according to a report from KIROTV.
The sterilization issue was discovered November 2013 in two scopes and was a result of improper technician training for the particular type of scope, which has a channel not typically found in other scopes, according to the report.

The hospital has released a statement and is offering free hepatitis and HIV tests to patients on whom the potentially contaminated scopes were used.
According to the statement, Seattle Children's has reviewed its cleaning processes and retrained its staff to reduce the risk of future lapses.
