The medical center spent months looking for an existing retail pharmacy partner, but decided instead to create its own pharmacy because there was “internal passion, expertise and experience” to grow the service in-house.
To compete with purchasing against larger providers, the hospital has contracted with primary vendors to keep the in-house pharmacy pricing competitive for patients.
The board voted unanimously to establish the pharmacy, which will cost $135,000 to create.
