After entering bankruptcy for the second time in less than two years, Rite Aid plans to close a Maryland distribution center by early June.
Rite Aid will lay off 363 workers at its Aberdeen, Md.-based Mid-Atlantic Distribution Center by June 4, according to a WARN notice filed May 7.
Two days before the WARN filing, the national pharmacy chain said it was seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and planning to sell “substantially all its assets.” Rite Aid previously filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October 2023 and closed more than 520 stores before emerging from bankruptcy in September 2024.
Amid its current bankruptcy process, Rite Aid is laying off more than 2,000 employees across Pennsylvania and New Jersey. It currently operates 1,240 pharmacies in the U.S.
